Ed Nusbaum has been appointed for a second term as global chief executive officer of Grant Thornton International, following a unanimous vote by the network's board of directors.

Nusbaum was first appointed as global chief executive in January 2010, and his reappointment means he will continue in the role until December 2017.

For 2013, Grant Thornton International reported 8.1% growth in fee income, with total revenues reaching $4.5bn, while its staff number reached 38,543.

Since taking the helm of the network in 2010 under Nusbaum's leadership global staff counts increased by over 8,000 people and revenues grew by 25% from $3.6bn reported in 2010 to $4.5bn reported for 30 September 2013, according to IAB data.

Prior to his role as global chief executive, Nusbaum was chief executive of Grant Thornton US, a position he held from 2001-2010. During this time the US firm tripled its revenues and workforce.

He first joined the firm in 1978, and also spent time leading managing partner of Grant Thornton US's professional service, the managing partner of it Philadelphia office and national director of assurance services.

Commenting on his reappointment, Nusbaum said: "I am honoured and look forward to working alongside our 38,500 people in 120 countries."
