Baker Tilly International US member firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause has merged with New York firm Holtz Rubenstein Reminick.

The addition of Holtz Rubenstein Reminick, with offices in Manhattan and Long Island, is supposed to strengthen Baker Tilly's presence on the east coast of the US.

The merger will be effective as of 1 June 2013. The newly merged firm is expected to report annual revenues of more than $300m and employ 1,600 staff, according to Baker Tilly Virchow Krause chair Timothy Christen.

"We've been looking for the right merger partner in New York and we found that partner in Holtz Rubenstein Reminick. They have a strong reputation, considerable technical excellence, and a record of success," he said.

Baker Tilly's executive managing partner Ed Offterdinger will lead the integration of the two firms.

Holtz Rubenstein Reminick was previously part of DFK International.
