KPMG UK has appointed Richard Gostling as head of sectors, effective 12 May.
Gostling, previously head of business services at Goldman Sachs, is coming back to KPMG UK where he completed his accountancy training in 1992. As head of sector he will sit on the UK executive committee and will be responsible for the firm's 10 specialist sector departments.
Gostling will take over Joe Gallagher who has been appointed vice chair along with Melanie Richards, current non-executive director, effective in October. As vice chairs Richards and Gallagher will "represent the firm at the highest level with clients and other key stakeholders", KPMG UK said in a statement.
KPMG UK chairman Simon Collins said that these appointments were an important step forward as KPMG UK seek to "evolve [its] leadership model".
"For the next phase of our three year transformation plan, we are investing in the areas which matter most to our clients; such as cyber security, technological innovation and audit quality," Collins said. "The three appointments will bring a fresh and valuable perspective to our leadership team."
On the margins of these appointments, KPMG UK also announced that Ashley Steel, vice chair and global head of transport, would retire in the summer.
