KPMG US has appointed Conor Moore as national co-leader of its venture capital practice and Packy Kelly as leader of the firm's global semiconductor industry practice.
Kelly, a Silicon Valley-based audit partner, succeeded KPMG partner Ron Steger, who retired.
Kelly was the co-leader of KPMG's national venture capital practice, the role for which Moore, a San Francisco based audit partner, has been appointed.
In 2012 the US semiconductor industry, one of America's largest exports, generated $146bn in sales and employed 250,000 people according to the Semiconductor Industry Association.
Kelly said it's widely-accepted that the semiconductor industry would continue to grow this year.
"As traditional sources of market demand for the industry, such as personal computers, continue to mature, advances in new age consumer electronics and the 'internet of things' are expected to become more important growth drivers," Kelly said.
Moore's role will involve setting the strategy and priorities for KPMG's venture capital practice.
"He will broaden KPMG relationships with venture capital firms, venture-backed companies and start-ups, and serve as the lead partner on several large client engagements," KPMG said.
