Michael Solender has been appointed as EY's global vice chair and general counsel.
Prior to taking this role, Solender was EY Americas vice chair and general counsel, as well as the US firm's general counsel, positions he had held since 2009.
The firm said Solender will be tasked with carrying out the global reorganisation of the EY legal function and integrate EY's internal legal operations worldwide.
Before joining EY, Solender was general counsel for a number of financial institutions, including the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and was a partner at law firm Arnold & Porter.
For his new role, Solender will be based in New York but will spend a significant amount of time in London with the executive team.
He said he was looking forward to leading EY global's legal function and advising EY's leadership. ad "This opportunity comes at a pivotal time for EY as we implement our Vision 2020 plan to make EY the leading global professional services organisation," he says.
Ron Hauben will succeed Solender as general counsel of EY US, having worked as deputy general counsel for the previous decade.
