David Hitchcock has been recruited by Grant Thornton UK to the newly created role of chairman of UK Banking.
In this role, Hitchcock will oversee Grant Thornton's services to the UK banking sector as well as informing the firm's wider financial services market strategy. As chairman, he will also join the firm's Financial Services Group senior leadership team.
Prior to his appointment, Hitchcock spent 17 years at JP Morgan managing relationships with asset managers and hedge funds. Before this, Hitchcock worked at Goldman Sachs, and also served as a Captain in the Brigade of Ghurkhas.
Commenting on the appointment, Grant Thornton UK head of financial services Peter Allen said: "financial services firms, now more than ever, need partners who offer the skills to navigate today's challenges and foresight to plan for tomorrows."
