Grant Thornton UK has updated its trainee recruitment to take less account of academic scores when looking at candidates.
Instead, the firm has streamlined its recruitment process to look for what it describes as "key indicators" to identify people who are likely to fit with the company culture more effectively.
As a result, it will no longer screen out applicants based solely on academic results.
Maria Floud, trainee recruitment senior manager at Grant Thornton UK noted that each year, Grant Thornton receives around 9,500 applications, and said going forward "10% of the trainees we have found through the new process are those who may have been excluded before, but who will now be able to bring a fresh outlook and ensure an excellent fit for our culture."
