KPMG UK hires head of financial risk

KPMG UK has recruited former Barclays head of global compliance Mike Walters as the firm's head of financial risk management group.

Walters previous experience includes three years as financial services partner at Deloitte, which he left in 2006 to become global head of compliance at Barclays. He became head of conduct and risk programme in 2012.

Commenting on his appointment, Walters said: "A key challenge for the industry is to move on from legacy issues and to safeguard against future issues that could further erode trust in the sector and prevent the real economy growing.

"Increased and constructive dialogue between regulators and businesses is essential for this to happen, which is something I hope to encourage in my new role."
