KPMG UK chairman and senior partner Simon Collins emphasised the importance of an inclusive work environment speaking at the second European [Out] On The Street leadership summit.
The summit was aimed at working towards a more inclusive business environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employees and the [Out] On The Street project joins several big corporates such as KPMG, EY, HSBC, UBS, RBS, Barclays etc.
Collins said a lot has already been done in this area and that the firm itself has already built a strong LGBT network, however he said there is still a long way to go.
Founder of [Out] On The Street Todd Sears said global perceptions of LGBT people in both their roles in society and workplace are shifting. However, Sears said there are still fundamental shifts that need to happen and said that for example in 29 US states people can still be fired for being gay.
