Deloitte has appointed Robert O'Brien to lead its global real estate group.
In his new role, O'Brien will work with Deloitte's member firms to enhance service programmes for the network's largest global clients. He will also work closely with the Big Four network's global leader within the financial services industry practice.
O'Brien, who has been at the Deloitte US firm since 1983 and currently serves as vice chairman, will also continue as the US real estate leader.
He previously served as the US firm's audit and enterprise risk management leader for its real estate practice, as well as its global real estate funds initiative leader.
O'Brien has advised some of the largest public real estate investment trusts, private equity real estate funds and hospitality clients during his career.
Deloitte US has also appointed its co-leader of financial advisory services corporate restructuring group Sheila Smith to leader of restructuring services in the Americas region.
"Sheila is a seasoned, restructuring and bankruptcy professional with more than 20 years of experience serving a host of clients ranging from manufacturing and retail to distribution and technology. She has been a driving force in the restructuring practice in the Americas region, and I have no doubt that she will build on our existing foundation to help us leap ahead in the market place," Deloitte Americas managing director John Trina said.
