Grant Thornton International expands

Grant Thornton International has grown in Luxemburg, the Netherlands, the Caribbean and Canada through a combination of mergers and acquisitions.

In Luxembourg, a merger between Grant Thornton and PKF has effectively doubled the size of Grant Thornton Luxembourg. The firm now has 190 staff and nine partners offering audit, tax and advisory services.

Two members of PwC's Eastern Caribbean group have also joined Grant Thornton International, bringing offices in Antigua, St Kitts & Nevis and St Lucia, which will together serve Eastern Caribbean countries.

In the Netherlands, ConQuaestor, formally joined Grant Thornton International, having first announced the Move in April.

The two firms, Grant Thornton Netherlands and ConQuaestor are currently working towards a full merger, which is expected to take place in 2014, with full operational integration to follow in 2015.

Canadian firm Breakwater Accounting Advisors has also joined Grant Thornton International.

The Vancouver firm formed in 2008 as a business risk advisory practise, specialising on the mining sector, and had six staff including two partners.
