FRC MG Rover verdict expected end of July

The UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is to give its verdict in the disciplinary proceedings against Deloitte UK and its former partner Maghsoud Einollahi and their role as advisors to collapsed MG Rover.

The disciplinary proceedings are said to continue 29 July.

The charge was originally filed by the UK Accountancy & Actuarial Discipline Board (AADB) in February 2012, when it claimed the defendants had failed to adequately consider the public interest and the potential for there to be different commercial interests between the 'Phoenix Four', who bought MG Rover in 2000, and MG Rover Group.

In July 2012 the AADB became a part of the Financial Reporting Council, which took on the case under its disciplinary arm, the Professional Discipline Team.

The first AADB hearing began in March, but ended after both sides gave their evidence and the tribunal retired to make their decision.
